HUSH FAQs

First time waxing with HUSH? Here are a few Questions / Answers that will help enhance your experience.

Q: What are the benefits of waxing vs shaving?

A: Apart from leaving your skin noticeably smoother for a longer period of time, waxing also helps in the removal of dead skin cells. Waxing is also the smarter choice because as you wax, you will immediately begin to weaken the hair follicles, which in turn will result in hair growing back slower, lighter and thinner. Frequent shaving will result in the direct opposite as hair typically grows back more coarse and fuller. Aside from the nicks, cuts and razor burn, the cost of shaving quickly add up.

Q: Is the waxing process painful?

A: Along with our waxing methods and using only the highest quality of wax, guests will experience minimal discomfort.

Q: How long does my hair need to be for best waxing results?

A: For best waxing results we recommend 1/4 inch ( size of a grain of rice ), which typically means 2-3 weeks after shaving and approximately 4-6 weeks after your last waxing appointment. Note: Hair growth will vary from person to person.

Q: How often should I wax?

A: Most of our clients visit Hush every three to six weeks, depending on how fast their hair grows back.

QHow do I book an appointment?

A: Simply decide on the service(s) you desire and book your appointment here.

Q: What age do I need to be to get waxed?

A: Clients must be 18 years or older to get waxed. If you are younger than 18, a parent or guardian must be present.

Q: Is there anything I should avoid prior to my waxing appointment?

A: We recommend that our clients avoid direct sun exposure for at least 24 hours leading up to your waxing service. Also we suggest limiting your caffeine intake on the day of your appointment as it tends to lead to a stimulated nervous system.

Q: Anything I should do to prepare for my waxing appointment?

A: For best results, we recommend our clients exfoliate with a gentle exfoliator prior to their visit. This not only assists in the removal dead skin cells on or around the hair follicle but will also provide you with much smoother results. It is also recommended that guests take an ibuprofen to minimize discomfort during their service.

Q: What is the recommended attire?

A: We suggest that our clients wear comfortable clothing. Avoid clothing that may cause irritation or discomfort.

Q: How long will the redness last?

A: Although different from person to person, clients may experience a subtle redness after waxing. Typically the redness lasts anywhere from 30 minutes to 24 hours, depending on the sensitivity of your skin.

Q: Is there anything I should avoid after my wax appointment?

A: We recommend that our clients avoid tanning for at least 48 hours after the waxing appointment. Also it is important to avoid excess heat for 24 hours after a waxing appointment. This includes visits to the gym as it can produce sweat which carries bacteria into the pores and may lead to skin irritation.

Q: If I started my period can I still be waxed?

A: Absolutely. For sanitary reasons we ask that our clients use a tampon. Note: Because of the time, be aware that your skin may be a little more sensitive.

Q: Can I wax while I am pregnant?

A: We have many clients who wax with us during their pregnancy. However it is recommended that you consult with your doctor prior to booking your next appointment.
